Un dimanche à Paris :: Marche Raspail

Sunday morning I woke up with the desire to make more pavlovas.

Pavlovas need fruit, and I didn't have any, so I jumped on the 68 and, for the first time, I went down to the organic markets at Raspail.
I live at the top of Rue des Batignolles and I often go to the organic markets that happen there on a Saturday morning. I encountered many of the producers I usually see there this Sunday, except one.

Right at the southern end was the sweetest bake-shop** stand selling cookies, canelés and English muffins. We took four to make egg and bacon sandwiches for lunch and I took a little canelé to accompany my coffee.

I took my loot of pomegranate, passion fruit and figs home and delicately packaged everything up to take to my friends' cafe to share the (sweet) love. It only occurred to me as I was riding there that taking your own food to a cafe isn't totally kosher...

Luckily for me, and our bellies, they didn't mind too much...

xx

    1. Hi Fran, yes, it surprisingly is, if you go to the effort, that is. There are bio shops everywhere, but it's better to go to the markets, this site is quite handy; http://equipement.paris.fr/?tid=289,300.

  4. I'm obsessed w/ the english muffing stand! They are so much better than any english muffin (and i wish they were at Batignolles)! On a side note, love that you're reusing the TKP container! xxx Let's go to Holybelly together soon? x I love it there.

  5. Yes! I love biking down there on Sunday mornings and then going over to Jardins de Luxembourg afterwards. The muffin lady is the best :) Also, the bread guys at the south end of the market are amazing as well, including really good gluten free bread.

    1. Hi Marissa! Thank you! This market is really great, there's a lively community feel to it, perhaps aided by the fact that it's the only thing open in the area on a Sunday! See you again, soon xx

  7. How how positively lovely!!

I am living in Paris for the winter, and so thrilled to have discovered your blog. I'll be perusing it for ideas of what street market to hit next and what to do with all the goodies I bring home to my (teeeeny tiny) Paris kitchen.

    Magnifique!
